چکیده
ABSTRACT. The aim of this research was to provide an overview current knowledge, by assessing the possible contamination sources harvested rainwater polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), its effects and human health risk assessment. Random sampling technique used collect eight samples from different roofing materials made (asbestos, zinc, aluminium thatch) in Warri Agbarho (AGB). were extracted using a liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) system according established procedures United States Environmental Public Agency (USEPA). Under optimized conditions, ranges recoveries solid-phase (SPE) clean-up PAHs range 71-90%. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for determination sixteen priority samples. total concentration each roof types Refinery Petrochemical Company (WRPC) are: 0.036±0.012, 0.047±0.020, 0.045±0.018 0.0023±0.008 ppm aluminium, asbestos thatch roof, respectively. In addition, AGB 0.046±0.020, 0.024±0.009, 0.023±0.008 0.021±0.007 roof. analysed exceeded environmental protection agency (USEPA) standards contamination.

متن کاملRisk Assessment of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Pasta Products Consumed in Nigeria
Background: The present study aimed to quantitatively determine polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in pastas consumed in Nigeria with the view of estimating the daily intake amount and the possible risks to consumers. Methods: Sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined in locally produced and imported pasta using a GC-Mass Spectrometer. Estimation of daily intake was done on...
متن کاملDetection of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Hide and Skin of Slaughtered Cattle and Goats in Anambra State, Nigeria
Background: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are among hazardous chemicals that may endanger food safety. In Nigeria, hides and skins of animals are edible and used in dishes. So, this study investigated the levels of PAHs in singed and unsinged hides and skins of animals slaughtered at three districts abattoirs (Obosi, Uga, and Kwata) in Anambra State, Nigeria. Methods: Using gas chrom...
متن کاملBiodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...
